Which Mercedes Benz cars are in Jurassic park movies?

The Mercedes Benz cars used in the Jurassic park movies are given below:

Mercedes Benz M class.

Mercedes Benz launched the first generation of the M class W163 in 1997 and wanted the car to be in the movie. The M class is a mid-sized SUV with the great build quality, it was used in the 1998 Jurassic park movie titled The Lost World.

A total of three Mercedes Benz ML were in the movie but two cars were used extensively by the Gatherers to transport and navigate across the island shown in the movies. Both the cars were Mercedes Benz ML 320 models that were launched in 1997.

Although the models used in the movie were slightly modified, no modifications were done to the drivetrain. The ML 320 is powered by the M112 V6 petrol engine with an all-aluminum engine block and cylinder head construction. The two overhead camshafts operated intake as well as exhaust camshafts and the cylinders used two exhausts with single intake ports for better charging.

The power produced by the Mercedes Benz ML 320 is 215 HP and 310 Nm of torque, due to the use of variable valve timing, the maximum torque is produced at 3800 RPM. The top speed of the ML 320 is 112 Mph or 180 km/h with 0-62 mph achieved in 9.5 seconds.

Some of the modifications done to the Mercedes Benz Ml 320 used in the movie are a special camo paint scheme, high profile off-road tires, an underbody shield with bumper guards, aluminum interior trim and jerry can carriers. 

The cars were pushed well beyond their limits in the movie, the three cars were called Santana, Montana, and Fontana. The two models named Santana and Fontana were destroyed in the movie but Montana with an extra wheel mounted on the top survived.

Mercedes Benz GLE 450 AMG

Mercedes Benz had to rename the M class as it was similar to the M badging of the BMW M power. Currently, the GLE is the latest model and it replaces the Mercedes Benz ML. GLE 450 AMG is used in the Jurassic park movie titled Jurassic world.

It is used by the Jurassic world manager Claire, played by Bryce Dallas Howard. The GLE 450 AMG is a 4-door coupe SUV. It is one of the models in the Mercedes Benz AMG line. There is no hand-built engine in the GLE 450 AMG.

It has a Mercedes Benz V 6 M 276 engine that produces 362 HP and 520 Nm of torque. It has a 4 Matic all-wheel-drive system and uses the latest 9 G-Tronic automatic transmission. The transfer case is integrated into the back of the transmission and splits the power between the front and the rear axle.

The engine has two turbochargers that are controlled by the wastegate operated by Vacuum actuators and the intake air is cooled by a liquid-cooled intercooler. The top speed of the GLE 450 AMG coupe is electronically limited to 155 Mph or 250 km/hr.

The acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes only 5.7 seconds. The front and the rear axle have floating calipers and the engine is mounted on the front subframe with active engine mounts. 

The driver can select different driving modes from the dynamic select menu on the center console and the damping rate of the engine mount will vary based on the selected mode.

The fuel consumption of the GLE 450 AMG in the city is 22 MPG and on the highways, it’s around 27 MPG. The fuel tank capacity is 93 Liters or 20.5 gallons which gives the GLE 450 AMG coupe an effective range of 1081 km or 672 miles on a full tank of gas.

The seating capacity of the Mercedes Benz GLE 450 AMG is 5, as the body style is coupe the roof drops down after the second-row seats. The coupe styling affects the trunk capacity, but it is still 690 Liters as there is no third-row seat.

At the time of launch, the Mercedes Benz 450 AMG was priced between 65,000-80,000 USD. Currently, the coupe version is no longer on sale. Mercedes Benz launched the fourth generation model in 2019 and the latest GLE 450 is in the conventional SUV body style.

Mercedes Benz G class

Mercedes Benz G 550 and G 63 AMG models are in the Jurassic park movies, the G class is the most rugged class in Mercedes Benz and all the models in the G class are SUVs. The 2013 G 550 is used by the staff in the Jurassic World movie, it is the standard 4X4 version of the G 550.

The G 63 AMG on the other hand is a 6X6 pick-up truck version of the standard G 63 AMG. It is used as a staff vehicle as well as a shuttle vehicle for visitors to Jurassic park. The G63 AMG 6X6 version has portal axles instead of normal axles.

The ground clearance is 460 mm with a water wading depth of 1000 mm. It is 2110 mm long and 2210 mm tall. It is powered by the same handbuilt V 8 engine found in the G 63 AMG but the top speed is limited to 100 mph. The 0-60 mph time is 7.8 sec.

The G 550 also has a V8 engine and the top speed is 130 Mph. It has a 7-speed automatic transmission connected to a transfer case. The 5.5-liter V8 engine produces 382 HP and can tow up to 7000 lbs.

Which Mercedes Benz in Jurassic park can you still buy?

You can still buy the Mercedes Benz G 63 AMG and the GLE 450 AMG that are shown in the movie. The ML 320 and G 550 on the other hand are not available in the authorized Mercedes Benz showroom.

The 6×6 G63 model was completely sold out in early 2015 and it is a very rare car even in the used car market. Brabus also modified 15 units of the 6×6 G63 AMG but it’s not available in all the markets.
