Is Mercedes Benz BIOME in Asphalt 8 real?

No, the Mercedes Benz BIOME in Asphalt 8 is not a real car. It was designed by the Mercedes Benz advanced design studio for the 2010 Los Angeles Design Challenge event. The Mercedes Benz BIOME is a concept car that is supposed to be manufactured using bio fiber and run on a special fuel called BioNectar. It is a very ambitious concept but there is no further news on its development.

The designer of the Mercedes Benz BIOME wanted to illustrate a vision of what a perfect vehicle for the future should be like and its integration into the ecosystem. Due to its futuristic design, it gained a lot of interest in the automotive and gaming industry.

Gameloft, a french video game publisher added the Mercedes Benz BIOME in the Asphalt 8: Airborne game. The car became available to the players of the game after downloading the Dubai up that was released in august 2014. The version number of the Asphalt 8: Airborne with the Mercedes Benz BIOME is v1.5.0.

There are different classes in the Asphalt 8: Airborne game and Mercedes Benz BIOME is in the class B category. After the update, Mercedes Benz BIOME was the meta car in Class B and it has the best handling in the game.

The in-game price of the Mercedes Benz BIOME is 770,000 credits but there is 1,020,000 credits worth of upgrades available for the car. The updates shown in the game are fictional and it is not related to the original concept of the Mercedes Benz BIOME.

Many players used the Mercedes Benz BIOME in the multiplayer online races due to its balanced handling. The only downside was the car had poor stats for drifting and on Asphalt, races drifting is very crucial to navigate across the tight turns.

During racing, players can also use the nitro boost to speed up and take out the opponents. The nitro efficiency of the Mercedes Benz BIOME is 5/10/15 in the three stages respectively. The starting in-game rank is 1192 but the maximum rank possible after installing the Pro kit is 1557.

The Pro kit system was introduced in the Asphalt 8: Airborne in the seventh update of the game. Apart from the Pro system to boost the rank of the cars, new locations were also added for the races and multiplayer events.

What are the special features and technical specifications of the Mercedes Benz BIOME?

The special features and the technical specifications of the Mercedes Benz BIOME are given below:

  • The biofibre used in the construction of the body is grown in a laboratory and once the service life of the vehicle is over, it can be composited into recyclable materials or used as a building material.
  • There are no Co2 emissions from the car, instead, the biofiber can emit pure oxygen into the environment, it is called a natural technology hybrid so the biofiber functions much like a tree.
  • The biofiber material grown in an organic environment is not only stronger but also lighter than steel.
  • Mercedes Benz BIOME runs on an alternate fuel called Bionecter 4534. The biofiber has special receptors like leaves to harvest solar energy. Solar energy is directly converted and stored into a chemical bond called BioNecter4534. The process is very similar to storing solar energy into batteries but there are no losses with the use of the BioNecter4534.
  • There is no dedicated battery pack in the Mercedes Benz BIOME, the biofiber in the chassis, interior, and wheels is used to store the BioNecter4534.
  • The process of converting solar energy into the BioNecter4534 also produces pure oxygen which can be emitted into the environment.

The material required for the construction of the chassis and the wheels is obtained by growing a seed containing special DNA synthesized in Mercedes Benz Nursery. The  Mercedes Benz BIOME is a concept car so the Mercedes Benz did not release the official technical specifications, the following table contains specification that is available in the Asphalt 8.

Is the  Mercedes Benz BIOME an electric car?

No, the  Mercedes Benz BIOME is not an electric car. An electric car uses an electric motor for propulsion, the electric energy required for the motor is stored in a lithium-ion battery pack. The motors are also capable of harvesting energy lost in braking and storing it back in the battery pack.

The concept of Mercedes Benz BIOME is completely different from an electric car although both have zero Co2 emissions. There is no battery pack that can store energy from an electric charger.

The energy is directly converted from the sun and stored in a chemical bond called BioNectar4534. The body of the car is part of the ecosystem there is no need for a battery pack.

Mercedes Benz also did not disclose the type of motor used for the propulsion of the car as  Mercedes Benz BIOME is still a concept.
