AMG had to use a wide-body kit to accommodate new 17 inches slightly wider alloy wheels and a custom exhaust that gave the E 60 its distinct noise. The modified V8 engine from the E 500 e could rev so quickly that the needle in the tachometer couldn’t keep up. The engine had high lift camshafts and made its maximum torque at only 3000 RPM.
The E 60 AMG is exotic not because of its handbuilt engine and performance but because it is such a rare car to find. Many customers purchased brand new Mercedes Benz 500e and sent it to Affalterbach, where AMG converted the cars by installing the bored-up V8 engine and modifying the suspension.
The only way to identify a real E 60 AMG is by checking the vehicle identification number. Cars made by the AMG had 957 digits in the VIN while the Mercedes Benz E500 had an entirely different VIN.
Even today the car is rare and the majority are still in Europe as AMG made the E 60 before the Merger with Mercedes Benz and never shipped the car to international markets.

The CLK GTR is a two-seater high-performance version of the Mercedes Benz CLK. It was manufactured from 1998-to 1999 and due to the regulation of the FIA GT Championship, the CLK GTR also had to be a production car. Therefore Mercedes Benz made only 25 units and today less than 20 units are still in circulation in the exotic car market.
It was powered by a 6.9-litre V12 engine and produced 612 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The CLK GTR could achieve 0-100 in under 5 seconds with a top speed of over 300 km per hour. This car is also the most expensive sports car built by Mercedes Benz and out of 20 units, there are a few two-door convertible models.
